Fabric Descriptions:

Flower Girl Dresses come in a few specialty fabrics. The most common fabrics are rich in shimmer, sparkle, and luster.

Organza is a popular wedding fabric. Organza is a sheer, usually white, smooth shimmer fabric. It is often the top layer of an organza style dress. It allows for a shimmer over the top layers in the gown. Organza is a rather expensive material. These days it is even less expensive to buy an organza dress online than it is to but organza fabric retail.

Satin is the most common flower girl and bridesmaid dress fabric. Satin, in fact, is not a type of fabric. Satin is a type of weave described as being smooth and shiny on one side an and dull on the reverse. Satin can be made of polyester, silk, poplin, or dozens of other fabric.

Taffeta, commonly known as 'party taffeta' has the most lustrous color of all fabrics. Pick-up dresses and crushed taffeta dresses give the contour for the light to reflect this magnificent fabric and give the same material two different colors under the light. Tulle is most common for the little ones.

Tulle is a fine sheer netting over lay for the fluffy tutu feel. It is sometimes double layered and filled with rose petals to make the popular style of petal dresses.

Shantung is woven in the same manner as dupioni (see silk dupioni description below), creating the same overall textured effect of the silk product, but utilizing man-made polyester fibers rather than natural silk yarns. Our shantung is bright, pure white in color, is medium weight, and has a soft luster on the surface.

Silk Dupioni is a subtly textured fabric woven from a double strand of silk yarn in a plain weave pattern. The yarn is uneven and varies in width, creating a series of natural horizontal "slubs", which should not be considered flaws, as they make up the unique character of the textile. Our silk dupioni is "pearl white" in color (a shade between white and ivory), is light to medium weight, and has a crisp finish with an understated sheen for an overall luxurious appearance.
